I've just made a video explainer the basic premise of what it means to do SEO and GEO today. The thing is, it's no secret, it's all public on Google's, Bing's, Apple's, OpenAI's websites.
The idea is that we need to tell "the computers" at Google, Bing, Anthropic, DeepSeek, OpenAI, Apple, and the rest:
- who we are
- what we're good at
- where we're doing it
- what kind of people should know about us
The more technical way of describing this to have you communicate your
- proximity,
- relevance,
- prominence,
- experience,
- expertise,
- authoritativeness, and
- trustworthiness.
You do this on your own website, and you get other websites to do that for you.
That is on-page SEO and backlinks. The third leg of the chair is your website's speed and accessibility.
We'll cover these topics and more in upcoming emails.
I used to think that SEO was the kind of thing you outsourced and spent big money on. Now I know better and it's something you can do on your own, and I'd like to help you do it.
