For 11 years I have made a full-time living through email. People email me, I reply, they reply, I reply, money turns up in my bank account.
How do I keep my email domesticated?
My inbox is sacred ground. You don't enter without permission, and I kick out guests without a reservation because my inbox is like an airport hotel, I'm only expecting messages to stay the night or two.
- I host email with Fastmail and a custom domain, so the email is separate from the Hotmail account I created as a teenager and in doing so you create a seperate place/inbox for celebrancy away from Google and friends.
- Give SaneBox the keys to my email account and it starts auto-managing many incoming emails. That link gifts you a 14 day free trial and free access to SaneBox Concierge, a 1-on-1 coaching session to help you get up & running.
- I give every email a job because idle hands are the devils playground. When the email enters it is either to be replied to, added to my to-do list, added to a calendar, unsubscribed from, read and archived, forwarded, or another action. The messages are only here on a quick visit, don't let them go rotten and stink the place up.
- A Zapier routine working with ChatGPT replies to enquiry emails giving the couple pricing and availability, so the couple don't need my immediate attention.
- If you don't know what to do with an email, ask ChatGPT how to reply, or delete it.
